I first connected with writer and sound artist Steff Juniper on Instagram at some point in 2019 over our shared queer goth leanings. In early 2020, they commissioned me to refresh their short artist bio for a Toronto queer art festival, Inkling Enacted Project Spotlight Series.
Steff Juniper: Artist Biography
Steff Juniper (they/them) is a sober queer non-binary trans witch, mad/disability justice worker, writer, sound artist, and third-generation white settler of Southern Italian descent based in Tkaronto. Their solo drone project Quivering is a shrieking indictment of systemic oppression and institutional violence, using voice, electric cello, theremin, synthesizers and chimes. “A Creature Untamed” viscerally distills an imagined post-human embodiment beyond carceral colonialism.
